Diocese of Orlando

Orlando, Florida

This downtown church property has transformed a City Block into a unique urban statement utilizing creative patterns of hardscape materials and formal gardens. A formal landscape approach using an Italian parterre garden connects the pedestrian walks between the building and parking lot. The playful use of pattern and color within the parking lots helps to soften the utility use of the space and also provides a circulation plaza when not being used for parking. A second floor terrace garden provides a restful retreat for the Diocese offices. A strong pedestrian connection was made between the historic building and the adjacent Cathedral. Weekend art festivals and events are often scheduled for the flex space between the buildings.
