Valencia State College
Orlando, Florida
FCA began their work on Valencia College in 1972 with the West campus. The first element that FCA designed into the project was a planted berm which separated the external parking lots from the internal campus. This feature set the initial tone for the quiet and contemplative environment that became the unique feature of the Valencia campus. Our work extended to the East campus in 1978 and Osceola campus in 1994. The landscape planting and hardscape improvements have focused on using sustainable plant materials. Over our 30 year history designing the Valencia campuses, we have tried to maintain a consistent look that unifies the campus landscape and provides visual continuity for the transition in architecture that has occurred. Areas for students to sit have been incorporated throughout the sites with larger areas designed for gathering.
